Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool is around since 2005, with Hilera as its first winner, followed by Effinboiche (2006), Lazy Susan (2007) and Letter Day Story (2008).
Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool is an inter-collegiate competition open to young unsigneed bands in the Philippines. From its beginnings as a battle among student bands in the Greater Manila Area in 2005, the competition has become of the country’s most anticipated music events. NESCAFE 3n1 Soundskool has produced some of the Philippines hottest young bands, including helira and Letter Day Story.
This year, NESCAFE 3n1 Soundskool is widening its reach to around 400 colleges and universities nationwide. NESCAFE 3n1 Soundskool sets itself apart from other music competitions because it not ony makes participants experience fame – it also provides opportunities that help young artists build on their craft to become better overall performers.
MANDAUE CITY, Cebu, 10 October 2009 — NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool, the country’s most anticipated inter-collegiate band competition, will choose three of the best Visayas-based college bands who will perform this afternoon at the Piazza Area of Parkmall with 6 cycle mind as their guest.
NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool is searching the entire country for the next hot, young Pinoy music stars on the road by kicking off the competition’s Regional Eliminations leg. College bands that have passed NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool’s initial screening phase will be battling each other out for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be directly mentored by some Pinoy music greats.
3 Visayas bands who won last nights competition and will proceed to the Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool Grand Finals Night:
Sundae Special from Iloilo Doctors College, Iloilo City, 3 hours & 10 from the University of Visayas, Cebu City and Lady Suzette from AMA Computer College Tacloban Campus, Tacloban City
Thirteen lucky bands will then move on to the finals and get the opportunity to participate in the NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool 2009 Workshops in Boracay where they can listen to advice and insights of some of the local music industry’s top artists and business executives about how to further improve songwriting skills, ability to connect with audience, business savvy, among others. The finalists will also get to interact with their idols during teambuilding sessions and most importantly, perform live with them in mini-concerts that will be held on the island.

Seems really nice. This is great in a sense that it’ll bring out more of the Filipino talent in music towards the spot light. I hope we support these kinds of activities more and more.
