NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool, the country’s most anticipated inter-collegiate band competition, will choose three of the best Visayas-based college bands who will perform this afternoon at the Piazza Area of Parkmall. NESCAFÉ strongly believes in young, talented Filipinos. NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool has committed itself to discovering the best college bands and helping them become famous.
Together with the Cebu Blogger Society, we had an interview with The Letter Day Story (grand winner of last year’s competition) right after the event.

Majority of the band members are majoring in Music at the University of Sto. Tomas, and at the same month and year, Letter Day Story was formed. Having the same interests, they decided to hone their skills and sum up their creativity in terms of making music. At the following month, they were able to book a gig, exposing their music for the very first time. This caught the attention of many, making them decide to take their new found talents seriously. Patience, teamwork and a lot of practice were needed to perfect their individual skills. Letter Day Story is also known for the extremely tight bonding among the band members.

The bands’ name (Letter Day Story) is quite literal in its meaning, writing their significant day to day experiences which become their creative yet easy-to-relate-with stories. The band assures that every set is performed with enthusiasm and quirkiness for the likeness of the crowd.

Aside from the skill and the formal training they already had, influences from well-known bands are also taken into credit such as Fall Out Boy, Dashboard Confessional, New Found Glory, The All-American Rejects and a lot more.

The band has also experienced playing in the rock scene along side Parokya Ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Bamboo, Imago, Rivermaya, Sugarfree, Moonstar 88, Stonefree, Silent Sanctuary, Mayonnaise, etc. In addition, the band has experience guesting in schools and campuses and also performing at big events such as Red Horse Muziklaban and MTV Music Summit 2008.

Having the right mind-set and perseverance, the band is determined to make it to the music scene. Sharing and performing their music for the people to see, hear and hopefully appreciate.
