Asiatown IT Park’s newest high-rise development, the eBloc Tower opens another cofee in site After first opening its doors in May 2009 in Torres Street, Davao City, Coffeecat marks yet another milestone with its second branch. The Asiatown IT Park branch is Coffeecat’s first foray into the exciting Cebu market. With its passion for coffee and excellence, Coffeecat promises to further enrich the highly developed coffee culture scene in this city already spoiled with choices. Coffeecat serves the pure goodness of 100% premium Arabica coffee, making it not just another brew in the City.
The name ‘Coffeecat’ is the product of an intriguing play of words coupled with a serendipitous association to a cat-sized mammal called a civet cat, which has a close affinity towards coffee berries.

The concept for Coffeecat was born out of a dream of creating a new type of meeting place –one that mixes modern, industrial, and minimalist elements yet retains a warm and cozy ambiance for good conversations, great beverages and delectable dishes. This is a meeting place that recognizes the Filipinos’ cultural tradition of taking a break from daily workday life and relaxing in the company of others. These, combined with the Italian coffee culture and influence of the North American pastry tradition all came together in the vision of Coffeecat.

At Coffeecat, each beverage is meticulously prepared and carries with it a memory of the taste and sensation inspired by the founders’ travels to other countries. The essence of various origins is captured in each drink to give one that ‘holiday’ sensation of being giddy and lighthearted, perfect for bonding moments with family and friends, making Coffeecat a cozy place for relaxing and celebrating all of those life moments. From precious family time, hearty laughter with friends, some needed alone time with a good book and cup of brew, private discussions with colleagues and sweet moments with a special someone, Coffeecat is a celebration of coffee and life.

Coffeecat is 90 square meters of stylish and chic space which can accommodate a total of 60 guests with its indoor and outdoor seating combined. The café specializes in expertly handcrafted beverages made from premium coffee blend illy®, a careful balance of 9 types of pure Arabica beans from South and Central America, India and Africa which createsthe unmistakable illy flavor always identical in any espresso cup, wherever it is drunk around the world; non-coffee drinks like Avalanche™ Ice Blends and its signature product – Yogo™ Premium Frozen Yogurt in Original or Green Tea Flavors.
Yogo™ is the finest frozen yogurt made with the freshest ingredients, a mixture of fresh non-fat organic yogurt with probiotics and organic skimmed milk. Yogo™ promotes a positive feeling by serving a delicious tasting treat that is good for both body and mind. With optional fruit toppings available, it can help make up ones 5-a-day diet.

Other products include specialty teas, pastries, light snacks and short orders. Guests may also check their email, download a file before a meeting, or simply browse the internet by logging on to Coffeecat’s in-store free wireless internet service aptly called wireless@coffeecat.

Coffeecat is a lifestyle coffee concept owned and operated by Coffeecat Corporation. For more information, please contact us at www.yourcoffeecat.com .

SM Cebu has their new yogurt stall. Yogurt by the way is a dairy product produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. Me and luvy tasted this ew booth besides sm department store.

The color pink of frizberry yogurt called our attention and grab a taste. Yogurt is produced using a culture of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus and Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus bacteria. Milk is heated and cooled for an hour. While it is heated, the bacteria are added for fermentation. -it is rich in protein, calcium, riboflavin, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. -There is evidence of cultured milk products being produced as food for at least 4,500 years. The earliest yoghurts were probably spontaneously fermented by wild bacteria Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus native to and named after Bulgaria.

You can choose any of the 10 toppings they have (but you need to add Php 45.00 hehe) they vary from straw berry to black berry to blue berry. they have chocolate strips, chocolate fudge, chocolate tidbits…

Try to go and have yourself a treat!!

KRAFT Eden Cheese visited Cebu for their 8th day of fulfilling their 9 Days of Cheese-mas with Keso de Gallo.

This month is a season of forgiving and gift giving. With Ms.Janet Toral, me and luvy was invited to this event to be a part of giving foods to less fortunate cebuanos by creating a sumptuous Noche Buena dishes for the whole family. Together with Cebu Bloggers, we went to Fatima church to feed 300 cebuanos with the maja vegetable recipe. For most Pinoys, togetherness and merriment during Christmas means bonding over yummy feasts in a roomful of family and friends. Or that was how it used to be until the recent onslaught of typhoons that destroyed homes and took lives of many Filipinos.
But even if a lot of people may have lost properties or loved ones, the innate optimism still lies in the Pinoy blood and this inspired Kraft Eden Cheese to bring back the joy and faith of Filipinos during the festive occasion. The well-loved cheese brand launched the Keso De Gallo – a nationwide event coinciding with the traditionally celebrated Misa De Gallo (a Catholic Christmas tradition wherein nine dawn masses are held starting December 16, which will culminate on Christmas Eve).

Keso de Gallo means so much to a blogger like us who wants to promote Cebu’s good nutrition. .cebu.

Me and 5 of the bloggers in Cebu Bloggers Society attended the media event held in Jollibee Guadalupe which took on the theme of “The Best of Filipino Taste” and which celebrated prime local cultural icons that continue to develop through time, just like Jollibbe. They launched its newest major offering which promises to be another popular hit: the Jollibee Chicken Barbecue. Aside from us (CBS) i also saw some guest from media – 5 from Sunstar Newspaper, 5 from Cebu Daily News, 3 from RCTV (im not sure with this, bsta cebu tv) 4 from The Voice of Cebu. (please correct me the right name if ever)

Jollibee takes a Filipino gastronomic classic and improves upon it, creating the perfect version of the dish. Made only from generous permium chicken cuts.

“It reaffirms our brand’s commitment to constantly introducing innovative products that are tailored to local tastes.” says Arline Adeva, Jollibee PR Manager. I asked them how they come up with the product and they told us that It uses a special marinade made from top secret ingredients which indows it with that mouth – watering babecue taste. They told us that they are still studying the product to be salable outside the country. As for now, they only limit the stores of chicken barbeques availability.

Jollibee’s Brand Manager (i forgot her name) said that “Extending Jollibee’s legacy of excellence, the Jollibee Chicken Barbecue further cements the brand’s position as a pioneer int he fast-food industry. It also offers further proof of Jollibee’s status as an icon of Filipino food with a devotion to upholding its signature langhap-sarap goodness.”

Jollibee Chicken Barbecue is available as a 1-pc. solo meal for Php69 and as a 2-pc. solo meal for Php119. Value meals, which come with a regular drink, on the other hand, are priced at Php89 and Php139 for the 1-pc and 1-pc. sets, respectively.

The Jollibee Chicken Barbecue is now available in selected Cebu stores, and will soon be available in all 40 Jollibee stores in Cebu by September 28.

When Sinjin invited me to have a food review in Lahug, i never had a thought of this liempo not until i was encourage by my father who had always been going to and fro in balamban just to taste their famous liempo. so me and the rest of Cebu Bloggers had a treat in Balamban Liempo’s new branch in Lahug.

Balamban Liempo Food Corner was established in July 2009, owned by couple Jojo and Honey Vergara of Abucayan, Balamban. Balamban is a farming and fishing municipality in South Cebu, commonly known for their ship building industry. Inspired by the distinct method of grilling liempo in Balamban using several local herbs and secret ingredients, they set up shop in Jojo’s fathers Residence in Mabolo, Cebu. (Tres Borces St. Corner S. Cabahug St. Cebu City (just near lamiks Chicken and Beer, Burger Joint, and The Authentic Lingam Massage))

Things i like:

1. The herbs and spices – They have this unique ingredients that every-time you take a bite, the taste would sink in to your nerves! haahahah (exaggeration but the taste was really really good)
2. The accommodation – me as a customer would love to have a crew that would really accommodate you. well, they have it. no problem with that.
3. The price – it suits your budget. Php160 gud for 1 liempo enough for 5 persons. so more or less, Php32 per head.
4. The Liempo – even the fats really taste great.

Thing i dont like:

1. The place – its just a small stall besides jos chicken inato, it cant encourage customer to dine in. They only have small space for it, then no parking lot. if it had not because of good comments/feedbacks about the store, i wouldn’t have been there.

Heres one comment i found in istorya.net

from :mortar@pestle

have y’all tried the latest liempo in town?
i just did yesterday and was surprised to know how good it is compared to the other liempos here in cebu city..
Lahi ra jd kay spicy ang dating nya tagumkum au ang panit!!
kng la pa mo kasuway, bgo ra cla ngopen sa Salinas Drive Lahug, atbang USP..
sakto ra sad ang price!!

BALAMBAN LIEMPO

MISSION
To Provide consumers the best tasting TAKE OUT meal in Cebu, which is affordable and convenient.
To Provide consumers the experience of eating grilled liempo at its most unique and flavourful.

VISION

Want to go to a place where hanging rice is famous, internal parts of chicken and pork is available, and a place nothing but barbeques? Cebu City introduces this Barbequehan sa Larsian. Located near Fuente Osmeña circle, and in between two Hospitals, Chong Hua and Vicente Sotto. This is the best place when you need to crave for some barbeques without worrying your budget. Many visitors would go here for many reasons: first, they dont have a hanging rice, heeheh… of course, cebu is famous for that. its a mini ball made by coconut leaf filled with rice, steamed for 16 – 30 mins (correct me if im wrong), serve and done second, dicer. mmmm… Its a thick sauce that is used to spread all over the barbeque to have some taste. It goes with catsup , herb and spices. Customer could also ask for dicer for their sauce. Third, The Place. It has an array of rectangular tables with different stalls that sorrounds it. Buying barbeques are more convenient when they are just right at your side. Lastly, The Price. Products are sold from 5 – 25 pesos depending on its kind. Rice is as cheap as 2.50 pesos.

Aside from being affordable , Larsian gives convenience to those people who have patients in nearby hospital. It opens 24 hours so they could have their meals anytime available.

They have this interesting flavor named “Crocodile Pizza” but unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to taste it.

The pizza creator’s idea was to come up with an authentic thin crunchy italiano pizza crust with flavors that would suit the taste of every filipino. Its first branch was opened in Bacolod city last December of 2005.

Mama Maria’s Pizzeria is open 24 hours seven days a week, just dial 417-1177 for deliveries.
They will have another branch at Mactan Town Center. Grand opening will be this July 2009.
They are now open for franchise

I wonder why advertisement in TV would encourage to drink yakult in order to have the so called “lactobacillus”. As far as i could remember, My teacher back in Elementary told me that lactobacillus are already present in human bodies, they are a major part of the lactic acid bacteria group. most of its members convert lactose and other sugards to lactic acid.
